Sintra is part of the pilot project for the implementation of "i4efficiency - Intelligent integration and logistics efficiency identifier", which aims to save energy and create better conditions in the services to local communities.
The project started in the Sintra and Massamá Monte Abraão parishes, aims to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions of activities associated with urban logistics operations. On the other hand, it will also allow populations greater flexibility and convenience in terms of the services provided.
Postal, water, electricity, and gas distribution services are part of this innovative project, in a strategy based on the creation of a Unique Address Identifier (IUE), a digital platform, and complementary initiatives such as the creation of logistics centers, installation of smart containers, and distribution of bins for bio-waste and biodegradable bags, among others.
For the mayor of Sintra, Basílio Horta, "this is a good example of how we should think about sustainability issues, reflect on the impact of our daily gestures and thus begin to walk a new path, of technology for sustainability, from the first moment of consumption to the treatment of final waste.
Aiming to achieve a more sustainable territory and at the same time better serve the community, in Sintra the challenge will be faced with an integrated approach, contemplating several intelligent logistics solutions, based on collaboration and sharing, which optimize the number of vehicles and resources needed in the operations involved.
