Sintra City Council is committed to setting goals for sustainability. A reference of this path is the adhesion to the Covenant of Mayors in March 2015. Local authorities play an important role in mitigation and adaptation to climate change and Sintra recognizes in this project the support to promote sustainability with recognition, resources and networking opportunity, essential to meet their commitments in the field of climate sustainability.
The municipality assumes the sharing of responsibilities in the promotion of environmental and social awareness, aggregating synergies in the planning and execution of programs, projects, and actions in the customized area of environmental education and awareness, of added value, for the exercise of active citizenship in the conservation and defense of the environment.
